September MHC meeting

The September meeting of Michigan Horse Council will be held on September 1st, at the MSU Livestock Pavilion, East Lansing, at 7:30 p.m. Coffee and cookies will be served.
Items on the agenda will include:
· MHC to host SHCAC (State Horse Council Advisory Committee for American Horse Council), November 6-8, 2010. This is a meeting of all state horse councils that are members of AHC, and will include representatives from 20-30 different states.
· Kentucky Horse Council's brochure "Minimum Standards of Care for Horses"
· SHCAC meeting, November 2009 in Harrisburg, PA
· Mid-American Trails & Greenways Conference, hosted by Michigan Trails and Greenways. This mid-America conference includes sessions and information for all trail users, including equestrians. It will be held October 25-28, at the Kalamazoo Radisson Hotel.
· Update on OVETS cancellation
· MHC Horse Expo, March 12-14, 2010
· Updates on current legislation pertaining to equestrians
· Creation of a comprehensive compilation of equestrian camping facilities in Michigan, including locations, number of campsites, pavilion/building availability, and other amenities.
This meeting is open to all interest horsemen, not just MHC members.
MSU Extension Airing Public Service Announcement on TV, Fox-47, Lansing:
MSU Extension is airing a public service announcement (PSA) of Fox-47 TV, Lansing. This is titled "There is no such thing as a Free Horse", and is aimed at educating people to the actual costs of owning a horse.
The PSA will air for the next few weeks, Monday-Sunday, 10-11 p.m., in the FOX 47 news slot; and Monday through Friday, 5:30-6:00 p.m., in the FOX -47 news slot.
